TO MAKE ALL MEN SEE

“But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.”  Galatians 6:14

Those who have encountered the risen Christ have different stories to tell. Mine is simple. Heaven opened to me on a tiny island called Okinawa in the Far East. I sensed—and even believe I saw—the presence of Jesus and the Cross on which He died. It was not a fear of hell nor a desire for heaven that riveted my attention. How does one describe looking into the face of love?!

I could hear the words “Crucify Him!” and shiver at the beatings He took. The spit drying on His face made me weep. The armies of angel warriors waiting for His command (never uttered) to destroy the world made me tremble. And as He died, the triumphant cry, “It is finished!” exploded within me as His eyes met mine and He said, “For you!”

For you, too, dear friend. He simply loves you and me that much. And that love is for all others in our blinded and burdened world. That’s why I wrote the following song based on the words of Ephesians 3:9—Paul’s desire “to make all men see” the incredible love of God offered to one and all because of His gift to us all—the incomparable Christ.

TO MAKE ALL MEN SEE

The angels held their breath,

As they watched the awful death,

A gentle loving Lamb so all alone;

He closed His eyes and died,

And the earth convulsed and cried,

The greatest proof of love had just been shown.

Help me not to conceal,

What You died to reveal;

Please make people important to me:

Since I know how You feel,

And Your love is so real;

My heart cry is to make all men see.

He saw each empty heart,

That was coming all apart,

His great big heart of love just had to give;

He knew no other way,

I can almost hear Him say,

“I’ll take their place;

I’ll die so they can live.”

The Father saw it all,

And He heard that mournful call,

No help would come to Jesus from above;

Not a word was spoken,

But the Father’s heart was broken,

And people are the reason for such love.

He died, He rose, He lives,

And He loves, He cares, He gives,

To any person’s heart that opens wide;

But they can never know,

Until Christians rise and go,

He counts on us to speak, not run and hide.

Help me not to conceal,

What You died to reveal;

Please make people important to me:

Since I know how You feel,

And Your love is so real;

My heart cry is to make all men see.
