Joyfully the radiant bride turned to him, the one altogether lovely, the chief among ten thousand to her soul, and with unconcealed eagerness to begin her life of sweet companionship with him, she answered Make haste, my beloved, and come quickly, like a gazelle or a young hart and take me to our waiting home upon the mountain of spices!” Song of Solomon 8:14 Amplified Bible

This magnificent verse reminds me of the day God made Norma my beloved bride. I was in love, love, love, and I wanted our life together to be more than honeymoon passion. Just being with her was simply incredible—and it still is sixty years later.

I love taking long walks with her, sometimes in silence, other times talking and praying together. And I love telling her “I love you” for no other reason than that—just for who she is.

But there is a deeper meaning to the above verse than only human interaction. You and I will be part of the Bride of Christ. And we will be enraptured with our Heavenly Groom—the Lord Jesus. That’s why nothing is more important than a first-love relationship with Him today. Make taking time to read His Word and talking to Him in prayer as much a “daily must” as food and drink. And why not begin to take frequent walks—just the Lord and you? He’s waiting to give you your own love song just like He gave me mine.

Jesus, I just want to tell You,

That I’m in love with You;

Jesus, I just want to tell You,

That I’m in love with you:

Each day that I walk with You,

I love You more and more;

Each time that I talk to You,

Makes You more dear than before.

Oh Jesus take all my love,

Fill me with more of Your own;

Oh, how I need You, dear Lord,

Don’t ever leave me alone:

And together we’ll walk,

Side by side, day by day;

Two hearts united as one,

As we go on our way.
